Red Challenge (post no later than 2/9)

Post by pamcook »

This Friday (2/7) is National Wear Red Day. Please wear the color red to bring awareness of heart disease - sadly still the number one cause of death for American women.

The challenge is to use red on a scrapbook page, art journal page, mixed media piece, ATC - whatever and post it here.

Mega-bonus points if you add a photo of yourself wearing red in your art project.

It seems that Dr.s do not think women can have heart attacks.
My Mom had a errible times getting the Drs to listen to her.
She had a valve replacement but needed 3. Thay found that out after they were doing surgery.
She told them for years but they told her it was ashma!

Sad but true, Jill. Too many doctors think heart disease is a man's disease. Most women have no idea they have heart disease until they have cardiac arrest.

Okay I'll wear red on Friday Pam but then I want you ALL to read Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease by Caldwell Esselstyn. My family and I have lived this lifestyle now for 6 years and it saved my husband's life without having to have any surgery or any drugs.

Please read this…it will be the best $10 investment of your life:

Here's one using red (even though I can't get a good photo of it for some reason). The reds look more similar in real life.
My little Kenan taken December 2012 when they came down to visit.

Very nice Pam. I like that "business" type paper for the background too.

I've got my red on and I know of two other people I'll be seeing soon at my house today wearing o' the red. Jen and Nancy will both be here in a few hours to play!

Believe it or not, I've got some pages for this challenge! But they're not finished - just photos on ALSBs currently - they need titles and journaling and could use some embellishments. I'll try to sneak those in tonight, since this is the last day. If not, I might post them to this thread anyway, even if they are late.

Julie you have two more days to post according to Pam's topic title. No way I will get a LO made today though we girls may post a photo of us in our red finery…then I'll try to get a LO done and posted by Sunday.

Oh! My bad - did it say the 7th at any point? Or did I just change the date in my head?

TGIF - that's all I've got to say. :?

Nope - it was always Sunday so we have the weekend to create.

Farley, that paper is Making Memories - seven years old maybe (maybe not). It's an old one. I loved the flocked snowflakes on it. It's been lingering in my stash for too long!

OK, here are my challenge entries! The pictures are terrible (I think my camera may have a smear on the lens - I can't every seem to get a focused shot). Both are from Study in Red ALSBs, and in the "Sing" one, the entire choir is wearing red shirts - so BONUS for me. :-)

I went into the "way back machine" to add to these layouts. Aside from breaking out the Cricut for the first time in a long time, I went through my vellum drawer. I even cut some of the vellum with deckle scissors. I was in a mood to bust out some old stash. :-)

I have an entire drawer of the stuff - it's just one of those things that I need to remember to use. Maybe if I had my stash organized by theme, it would be found more often.
