Chalkboard challenge

Post by pamcook »

I have to admit that I love the chalkboard trend happening in decorating. Here's a video to inspire you. The challenge is to just try this technique and post your results. You get bonus points (you know I love to award bonus points!) if you use your chalkboard piece on a decorative item, card, tag, scrapbook page - whatever. No prizes will be awarded. I just want to challenge you to try something new!

When I clicked "paste", my most recent nursing paper attached itself to the post. Sheesh.

Okay - here's the link!

I love you all too much to subject you to my nursing papers! It's all I can do to not die of boredom when I'm writing them!

I wouldn't mind linking my research for the community assessment and having you all help write the analyses. ;)

I could help! I've gotten good at generating long-winded documents to say something that could be said in one little sentence. The benefits of a government job/education.

I'm more interested in the chalkboard technique. Especially since I bought stamps and PL cards just for it. Putting on my thinking cap.

Come to think of it, I believe one of the CC102 techniques involved a chalkboard tag. I think I did that one. I'll look when I get home.

Yep, there is a CC102 chalkboard tech, I just got the frosted crystal EP for that. Now, I get to try them both. Good challenge, Pam! I'm definitely going to give it a whirl.

Oh, thanks for reminding me. I also bought that Frosted Crystal EP for some reason. NOW I recall.

Oh, Timmy played right into our hands. Making it easy to meet this challenge. My offering will probably be a direct rip-off of Tim's.

I watched that tag, too, this morning, Jen. I don't have the special EP but tried it using Distress EP since it is a matte texture. My lightest color was a pale blue, forget the name, and it worked ok. Once it was cooled, I rubbed off a lot of the texture and rubbed chalk over it. If it had been white I think it would have looked good. So anyone with a white distress EP, give it a try.
Can't post as my laptop is in "the shop" and none of the samples were worth making into anything.

I'm posting this in three challenges. I've combined the November scrapbook challenge, the PAO Anniversary challenge and this chalkboard challenge into one. However, I didn't do the chalkboard look the way it was done in the video. I just took a piece of CS paper that looked like a chalkboard, smeared on some gesso and used a white pencil for the title - kinda got the same look, I think.
