Mike was injured today when a deck collapsed
Re: Mike was injured today when a deck collapsed
Some good news!!! No surgery needed on the shoulder. Dr. Chase says the tear they're seeing on the MRI was there from the beginning and is already showing signs of healing. So... more Physical Therapy but no more surgery!!! Yay!!!!

Re: Mike was injured today when a deck collapsed
That’s the best news!
Joel is still out of work at least another month. Reassessing on 4/15. He’s so over these restrictions. Thanks Hurricane Michael and the jerk who made them REMOVE sandbags 2 days before we were inundated with torrential rain. And, thanks worker’s compensation who denied coverage because there was “no injury”.
Apparently I needed to vent. Maybe I have PTSD?
Still, no joking, that is wonderful news!

Yay! Great news for Mike.
Pam, can the Worker's Comp decision be challenged? That's ridiculous.

Re: Mike was injured today when a deck collapsed
We called a huge law firm. They said because he’s not far from retiring, it’s not worth it because his managers would be dragged into it. If they refuse to let him return to work with limitations, they will enthusiastically take the case. It’s all because he saw a physician and had treatment before reporting the accident. Yes, I told him so. But - it happened on a weekend during a state of emergency and when he did go to urgent care, he was hoping for a cortisone injection so he wouldn’t have to miss work. See what happens when you try to be a responsible employee? They say he should have gone to the ED (during a state of emergency). Even though this is costing us thousands out of pocket, he did the right thing. Co workers who have had similar (less severe) injuries have had very bad outcomes as a result of their “care” from WC referred health care providers. IYKWIM.pbp908 wrote:Yay! Great news for Mike.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Something seriously wrong with the law firm advising you not to file because he's close to retirement. It's still thousands of dollars for you to pay!
