More great samples. Those colors truly are brilliant.

Oh my goodness, oh my goodness.
Nancy and Farley, I love, love these cards! Nancy, you did a great job with the ombre effect in your hearts and Farley, I love your stenciling techniques! I never ever would have come up with that idea on my own - okay - the ombre effect, I've thought of before but never to use it with texture paste and a stencil.

I first saw the Color Bursts on Julie FFB's blog and like others, I didn't think I needed them, but the more Farley does with them...

This is a fun stenciling technique that I'll call "subtraction" stenciling. I found the technique somewhere while deeply down the Pinterest rabbit hole.

I used Distress Inks on water color paper...direct pad to paper then blended it with a sponge tool. Next I took a mask of a floral pattern (CS Arts and Crafts) rather than a stencil, misted it with water, placed it wet side down directly onto the Distress Ink covered card, left it there for about 5 seconds and then carefully pulled it back up. The pattern of the mask removes or subtracts the color from the card. Very cool. I will tell you that it took a few tries to get one that looked right. The second photo is of another one that will possibly become a card also. But you can tell where I had a lot of water on the mask and where I did not. More water, more subtraction.

I found the perfect focal point for the unused stencil panel above. The birds on the wire is a die cut from Nancy from our recent die swap. I LOVE this die. I just smooshed it with Distress Inks to color it. I feel like the card needs something else but enamel dots is not the answer.

What, enamel dots aren't the answer?

Seeing this die on the card makes me want to copy you and then add some speech bubbles, cause they look like they are talking to each other! Thanks for the inspiration!

Oh there you go! Speech bubbles...brilliant. Maybe I can encircle the hello with one somehow.

Here's my card using stencils. I just played around making a background paper and cut a piece of it for the card. Used 2 different stencils on this.

Love the texture and dimension, Deb! My favorite kind of card, background experiments and a sentiment.
