South Smedley St.

Post by mpizzazz »

This layout is about the street we walk down between the parking lot and Kimmel Center in Philadelphia when we go to Phila. Orchestra concerts. These were taken last Fall, Oct. 18, 2009, also our 34th anniversary. The street stops and starts throughout the city and this happens to be its upmarket section. No traffic is allowed so you can walk right down the middle of the street. It is lined with gingko trees hence the gingko eyelets I bought for this street. The houses are very well kept and tastefully decorated for the seasons. It is a very genteel oasis in the center of a gritty city.
This is a sketch I saved from online and it fit my photos perfectly. Don't know the creator.

Thanks, everyone, for your comments.

And what brought you to Smedley St, Christy?

Steve's parents live near Philadelphia. We try to take the kids into "the big city" whenever we are there. Sometimes for a reason-Franklin Institute, Art Museum etc and sometimes we just wander and look.

Lovely layout Marianne! I wish I'd think to take photos of areas like that. I usually focus on people. I need to get over that.

Thanks, Julie. I'm the opposite. I would rather take photos of things or places and I especially love city architecture.
Maybe if you set yourself a goal each week of photographing one aspect of your daily life-at work, along the way, the neighborhood, church, schools, supermarket, little details around the house, anything-besides the kids. Think about what will be interesting for your family to see in 20 years.
