Tips Needed

Post by pbp908 »

How do you keep the scissors straight when you're cutting rubber? I know that I don't want to undercut the stamp, but evidently I'm angling them just a little bit when cutting - how do you not do this? I really don't want to ruin my new stamps. Is a little bit alright? Any volunteers to do this for me!?!? LOL.

Pam, we're trained to undercut when we cut around images to cut them out...with rubber its the opposite...try and have that bottom blade flaired out a little. A little bit doesn't matter...

Yep, that's exactly what I do. I also don't cut in a curve for rubber. Only straight cuts. When I use my Tim Holtz scissors, I will wipe them down with a bit of alcohol ink blending solution, to clean off any bits of old adhesive that might be on the blades.

Wipe your scissors with Versamark ink - it keep the glue from sticking as much. I can cut a whole sheet of UM's without having the clean off the scissors.

I undercut a little on a few of them because they were so :censor: close together on the sheet. They seem to stamp OK, tho. I need to trim a few that have too much rubber left on them, but that can wait.

Thank you all for your help. This has been an adventure but it's opening up an entire world of great stamps.

Pam I don't think you need to stress about undercutting a little. I tend to do that and most times it works okay.

Love your new siggie BTW

I'm anxious for spring so I thought I'd throw out the old snowy sig. Luly inspired me!
