Clarence the elephant

Post by Monica »

Anyone aside from me buy the Tim Holtz colorize dies of the various animals? He did 6 hours of demos last Saturday and one thing that had caught my eye was the colorize dies he did with woodgrain cardstock (the holiday season white/grey one). Hubby needed me to wrap a white elephant gift so I thought I'd be clever and actually put a white elephant on the top of the package. Having that nice wide roll of double-sided adhesive to put on the back of the cardstock before I cut it made worlds of difference in the assembly! So, without further ado, here's Clarence in all his white glory!

I LOVE him! And so clever of you to think of putting him on the package.

Yes - what They said! And brilliant to add the adhesive first!

Monica, I've never tried the wide double sided adhesive with die-cutting. How easy is it to peel the backing layer off after it's been through the machine?

Really easy. You'll want to make two passes through the machine, but I've not had an issue at all.

I missed this when you posted it Monica. Did you see my hand shoot in the air? I have, ahem, more than a couple of these animal dies, and love the quirky personalities of them. And I agree; double-sided adhesive makes them much, much easier to assemble - not just Tim's Colorize dies, but any multi-layer dies like the Altenew flower ones. If I'm being frugal sometimes I just use it on the smaller pieces that are a PITA to glue on neatly.
Brilliant idea to put a white Clarence on that gift! That's one of Tim's videos I haven't watched yet, but I'm hoping to have some time at home before I go back to work. And now that I'm home from Africa, I really wish he'd do a rhinoceros, LOL.

I wondered if you used the same trick, Keitha! Welcome back from Africa, I've seen your photos on FB and it looks like an amazing trip.
