Road Trip!

Post by pamcook »

Joel and I leave in the morning for a 15 hour road trip to visit Kenan and his parents. Only two planned detours along the way and one overnight stay somewhere.

I need something to keep my hands busy and my focus off the competitive driving maneuvers. What do you all suggest? Yes, I have my book but I’d like suggestions from you all.

Also, we’d appreciate prayers for safe travels. :happy94:

How about an audio book, a comfy pillow and an eye mask? :D
Hope it is an uneventful drive and that you enjoy every minute with Kenan and family.

Bring a travel journal and document your travels. I have a portable printer that does 2x3" sticker photos that I add to mine too. Wrap a few lengths of washi around a small tag, include some kind of adhesive for adding ephemera (I bring either double-sided tape or glue dots), a couple good pens and a small pair of sharp scissors. Maybe stamp a few images and bring pencils to color and cut out?

I was also going to suggest things to color. And a little clipboard.

Have fun on your trip!!

Thanks for the ideas. Right now the pillow and mask are at the top. Laundry, vacuuming, packing… no matter how much I think I’ve done to get ready, it always feels like last minute.

Keep ‘em coming!

The first thing I plan for a trip is what I'll knit along the way. If you knit or crochet, they are easy projects with not many supplies to take along.

I used to crochet & knit when I was in elementary school. I never enjoyed it. Hand-knitted items are some of the most beautiful items but just not me.

I agree with audiobooks; I always listen to books in the car, even driving to & from work. Also the coloring idea is good, even coloring stamped images for future embellishments.

Prayers for safe travels!

I used to take a shoe box full of tags, bits and pieces, small scissors, glue and make embellished clusters.
Now I do all the driving, ugh!

Pam, I hope you and Joel are having a terrific visit with family. Just once I'd like to go on a road trip where I can ride shotgun and do something constructive along the way. Embroidery is another easy to take-along craft.
