2021 June Card Challenge: Color Challenge - Art Print

Post by paddlegal »

Welcome to June! Summer is here in the Central Valley. 104* today! This Memorial Day weekend I pretty much stayed indoors out of the heat and did some crafty color experimenting, hence your challenge. Certain colors seem to be a part of my life lately - blues, greens mainly with a little bit of oranges and pinks added in.

So here is your challenge: I’ve selected 3 groupings of colors and yes, they all have a commonality. I am being selfish and throwing my current favorite colors at you. I spent the weekend learning (much to learn) gel press printing, layering paints and occasionally having a few successful prints that I am not actually embarrassed by, LOL.

You can use any medium, paint, ink, colored pencils, gelatos and get messy with color on any kind of surface. Then once you have made an art panel use it for a card or part of a LO, or a tag, a die cut or gift wrapping for a small gift. My samples are 8 X 11 gel press prints but you can do it any way you choose. I’ll be cutting up my prints over the month of June to create cards. This challenge is about the colors and how you decide to create with these 3 samples. Each pair of photos starts with a color idea I got from Pinterest and then how I used it to create my gel prints.

Get messy and have fun. I did.

Amazing. Just amazing!

I even know where my supplies are. I spent over an hour yesterday unpacking and rearranging (again).

158 emails so deal with today so no lunch break and certainly no mental health break (other than checking PAO). Will plan for tonight if there are any brain cells still firing.

Your first example looks like an Impressionist painting of a garden!

As soon as I can clear my work space this is my next project.

These are amazing, Farley. I've tried gel printing, but can't get anything that comes close to these.

That looks like a lot of messy fun. I wish I had a slightest clue where my plate was......

First project - simple blended D Oxides and then I used Unicorn Ink on a background stamp I didn’t even know I had. Not sure yet what I’ll do with it. Need to brainstorm a bit.

These are all just dye inks blended with a brayer on a gel plate. The small pieces are where I rolled the excess off the brayer. The pieces with spots are ones I laid a stencil on to lift up some of the ink. Now I need some background stamps and this a no-spend month! Augh! Maybe I’ll use my Silhoutte to make something to layer on top? Is it weird how much I love the little pieces??

This is what happens when I just think “Catherine Pooler Ink”. My other hand is mostly blue.

Terrific Pam! Laughing at your CP comment. Yes!

Your prints are great and it isn't unusual to love the sheets you use to brayer off the excess ink or paint. Love your color choices too.
