Mixed media class

Post by pamcook »

So far I haven’t learned anything but I’ve really enjoyed pulling out some supplies and getting media everywhere. I’ve made three backgrounds so far and will do my best to use them soon. If I had been thinking, I’d have chose colors to go with the most of my scraps so I could use them to make pages. But that would be thinking ahead and that’s a rare thing for me.
Found my gesso and it’s no good any more. I used a bit of white acrylic paint and that didn’t help much so I used a stencil with some VB texture stuff. As Shimelle says, it just needs more so I’m hoping layers of paper will cover what I still don’t like about it.

This one was created with my scraps of the Cocoa Vanilla Legendary collection in mind. Hey! I did thing ahead on this one! I think it needs some black...

This one was to layer three techniques - packaging, bubble wrap, and texture paste.

Oh - I didn’t have bubble wrap so I just used a stencil.

I watched but haven’t played with anything yet, I didn’t learn any new tricks either but like you was fun watching. At least you DID something. It’s hard to watch football and play with mixed media at the same time!

Your backgrounds are great Pam. Is this a paid class from somewhere?

Yes, one of Khristina Sorge’s classes.

Here’s a layout ‘lifted from one of Khristina’s examples.
I used some very old texture paste and colored it with some DI reinkers. I just scraped it on with a spatula. Easy peasy.

Very cool, Pam! All those little crosses; are they a stamp or did you hand- draw them?

It’s a stamp from one of Amy Tan’s sets a few years back. Khristina plans to make a set with some stamps for mixed media. One will be similar to this. Will let you know when it shows up in the store in case you’re interested. The tiny spots are a stamp from a Heidi Swapp set. Old School maybe?

Love this page, Pam! Texture stamps are the best; I need to pull some out and keep them on my table so they're handy to use.

Thanks again. Maybe years won’t pass before I pull the stuff out again.
