That place is fascinating. We didn't know there was a tour available but we did go on a 3 hour tour of the lake. It went by so quickly - learned and saw so much!

I’ve not been back there since the dam was completed. When I was 6 (summer of 1959) you were still able to drive through that gorgeous canyon and follow the river before it was flooded. I was with my family on a cross county road trip to NJ and I remember fairly vividly how beautiful it was. At that age I had a hard time understanding why it would be dammed and flooded so you could never see again the awesomeness of that canyon. Progress. I would love to go back and do that tour. Such engineering feats fascinate me.

we missed that when we went out there... didn't go north of the Grand Canyon... so I'm guessing that's why we missed it ... that must mean that we have to go back for another visit, right? LOL
