What a difference a day (or two) makes......

Post by pugmom »

Saturday was VIP day at our fabulous plant nursery. You pay an extra fee and get to shop with a limited number of other people, can have a buffet breakfast and this year they also had entertainment.
Next weekend is open to the public, but it is a total madhouse.

Anyway, we've been doing this for the last 5 years and buy about 18 pots of various sizes (some quite large). We always have to bring the plants into the garage at night for about a week until they acclimate to being outside and the nighttime temps stay above 45. It's a pain, but worth it to me to avoid the crowds.

This is a page I did yesterday of the view of the mountains on Saturday when we bought our plants. Some snow on the mountains, but everything else is so green and springy looking.

And this is what I woke up to this morning .... My plants have been in the garage with a space heater (it's only 26 degrees outside) and we have about 11 inches of heavy, wet snow. I can't get the snowblower out because if I open the garage door, I will lose all the heat that I've been able to build up in there. Guess I'll be shoveling later today :(

OMGosh Sue! I guess our heavy rain moved into Colorado as snow...so sorry. More rain for us this afternoon. Weather for us has been crazy. One week I’m in shorts and 80+ degrees and now I’m back in jeans and wool tops and full rain gear for birding. Hope your plants survive and LOVE your LO. Mo

You're layout is so pretty and spring-y.
Your photo is so pretty and no-so-spring-y. Spring snows just don't bring all the excitement, do they? Maybe it will all melt before you have to shovel? Saving your plants is worth it (says the lady who isn't shoveling).

It's in the 90's here this week. Muggy as all get-out one day and dry as a bone the next (today thank you Jesus). I'm trying to get my car unpacked from re(create) before the humidity sets in again. Joel is working on a (brilliant) temporary fix to our water woes while trying to avoid damaging his shoulder again.

Back to your snow - will the cold weather damage your already outdoors plants?

Yikes. I've seen the weather forecasts of late, quite something.
We were in the 80's on Saturday. Now rainy and COOL.
Hope that white stuff goes bye bye, and your plants are okay.

Wow, Sue. You've really got the extremes going on there! We've been rainy since last week, which is typical for the latter half of May every year.

I love snow, but there comes a time when it needs to just go away and let warm air take over!

The sunshiny yellow with the blue sky is perfect. I hope you get that view again soon.

Beautiful layout, Sue, but that snow is way past its use by date. I hope you get some late Spring/early Summer weather soon.

No, the snow has melted and we finally had a wonderful sunny day today. A week of rainy, snowy, foggy, gloomy weather was making me very grumpy. All of my in the ground plants seem to have survived, but I did lose a few branches off a small tree. My new pots were able to get out of the garage today and they seem much happier. They will be back in tonight, though.

Thanks for asking, Pam.

I hope you will get some of the beautiful sunny days that we have had very soon. I saw a picture of Iceland yesterday on a quilt group I'm on and it looked more like Spring than your view of the house!
