Stupid poison ivy

Post by nchoney »

Well, its either poison somebody or a reaction to Virginia creeper. But, as usual, I've got it bad! But I remembered today that our insurances pays most of the visit fee, so I gave it a try! Best $10 I've spent in a long time. Ill have prednisone waiting at the pharmacy in the morning. Hooray!!

Glad we have that option. Even at the regular cost of $49, it would have been worth it. A Dr. visit is a waste of time and money. Urgent care is $100 to walk in the door. So this was cool!!

I was surprised at how much poison ivy I saw out there. We have a lot this year and I plan to dig some of it up this weekend. Joel breaks out if someone just says “poison ivy”. I had my first rash from it this year. I quickly ordered some dried yarrow to make a healing balm (with plantain - the weed - and olive oil).

Sounds miserable. Hope the prednisone helps. Now stop rolling around in the weeds

I was clearing out in front of our house. More clearing needs to be done. After this rash goes away.

Yep. Wonder where I could find one of those.

That's why I was out there pulling and cutting the Virginia creeper in the first place.

At least now I know to wear long sleeves and pants the next time I'm out there.

Oh no Debi! Hope that prednisone gives you quick relief. Where I worked as a docent last Saturday I had to warn everyone to stay on the trails. Poison Oak everywhere with warning signs along the way. I’m the kind though who, as a kid when sliding down the East Bay hills on flattened boxes with friends, would be the only one who didn’t have poison oak. I plan to keep it that way and not test it.

It might be just in my mind.... but after my first, largest, dose this morning.... I'm starting to not feel as itchy.... so keeping my fingers crossed...

of course, I'll probably be out there in the weed bed this weekend again.... with long sleeves and long pants on... and heavier gloves ... LOL ... or maybe I'll just stay indoors and scrapbook!! :greenbounce:

I have never had poison ivy on my property. Last year, I found some behind the shed and as my son is highly allergic, I went and bought poison ivy killer which took care of it 1,2,3. This year, I'm finding it all along the back of my yard - I've never had any there and I live here 40 years??? Is this the year of poison ivy??
