2014 Aussie Journal
2014 Aussie Journal
I've painted, stenciled, gelli printed or sprayed a lot of pages for my travel journal this year. This is a selection of them. A few have gelli prints on fabric cut out and glued on like the leaves on upper left. There are a lot more but these are some of my favorites. I'm keeping them all loose so I can choose what to use when. The grey one on the bottom right is torn splattered newspaper for a rainy day in Seattle.
Bottom right is the other side of the rainy day, tall evergreens also for my few days in Seattle. The brown blob on upper right is a piece of gum tree bark from a previous trip now returning to Australia.
I've found a new source of stamping and mark making tools for the gelli plates. The embossing plates from Ten Second Studios for metal and the old fiskars and Cedar Canyon embossing plates make great printing plates and stamps. They can all add or take away paint from the gelli plate or I print directly on the paper or fabric. I put paint on them with a brayer so you only get the raised areas to print. Deli paper works especially well since it is so thin, you get lots of detail.

No wonder so many people are searching for deli paper.
These papers are so pretty. Bring your journal to re(create)!

Thank you, glad you all approve!pamcook wrote:No wonder so many people are searching for deli paper.

Now that I have used the deli paper on the gelli plate I don't even want to use the other prints I've made or thicker papers. The deli paper is so thin that you cut it up and adhere it to something else and you don't even know it's there. And you get great detail because you can press it into the plate so easily. I just love it. I will bring some to share with whoever wants some at ReCreate-if you can wait that long.

Re: 2014 Aussie Journal
where do you buy it?
Re: 2014 Aussie Journal
Jill - I hear people say they are able to find it at the big box stores like CostCo. I assume you'd be able to find it at restaurant supply stores, too.

BUT IF YOU DO - BEWARE THAT YOU HAVE TO BUY SEVERAL 1000 SHEETS. MAYBE SOME LADIES CAN GET TOGETHER AND SHARE A PURCHASE WHILE AT RECREATE.
Re: 2014 Aussie Journal
Our Costco didn't have it so my friend and I bought the deli paper on Amazon. It is Kabnet Wax in the blue boxes, you have to compare prices because the price can vary by $10 even on Amazon.
I took 3/4 of it, 750 sheets, so anyone who wants some, I can bring it to ReCreate and the sheets are big, about 10 x 12".
