Thanks very much! The trip home went well except for a missed train in Paris and lots of traffic driving across NJ from Newark airport. And, this morning we managed to sleep until 6 am instead of waking at 3 or 4 so jetlag might be almost over!

I just read Ray's blog and found out all kinds of interesting stuff! I was especially intrigued with the "thingie"!

  The 'thingie' must have been there when you were there. I'm assuming it is some sort of peace memorial or something. It made for some interesting photos.

And to answer your other question, Paris was Paris but we saw a different side of it since we were staying in an area that wasn't touristy. It was just your normal Parisian's Paris where the big excitement (for me) was which recycling bins are they picking up today. I was impressed by the daily stream of trash trucks, street sweepers and washers. Overlooking a busy street surrounded by apartment buildings was a novelty for us country bumpkins and I was always checking out the scene from our 4th floor vantage point. I felt like I was in "Rear Window".

Here is a link to the "thingie" http://www.wallforpeace.com/
I thought it was quite nice especially juxtaposed with 'that' famous tower at the end of the Champs de Mars. Ray was more interested in the girl doing yoga or something and posing for the photos.
