Changing Colors of Digital Papers

Post by ChrisR »

Here is a method to change colors of digital papers:

1. Select Magic Wand, make sure the following values are selected at the top menu bar: tolerance 32; anti-alias and contiguous boxes are checked

2. Click on area of paper containing color you want to adjust. Choose Select > Similar to select other same-colored areas of paper

3. Use the eyedropper tool to pick desired photo from photo or other source

4. Click on Enhance>Adjust Color>Adjust Hue/Saturation, then make sure colorize box is checked. To see what will result make sure the Preview box is checked. Adjust the Saturation or Lightness sliders if you wish, but not the hue one (that will change the color again)

If you notice some part didn't color then increase the tolerance number in step 1. Conversely, if more changed than what you wanted, reduce that number.

This is one of my early efforts at digi scrapping. I changed Farmer's Market to match Maddie's shirt. I can really see things that I've since learned that were left out, like drop shadows and adding additional elements. Oh well, like I said - early effort. ;)

Pam - that looks great! I love how it matches, I've got to do that! And I hear ya! I did an entire layout, added embellies, etc. flattened the image, etc. and didn't do ANY shadowing! I was so bummed. But your layout looks great without it! TFS!

It's really easy to do, and Chris gave great directions. You can also lasso (or select) one section and change the color/hue on just that bit. If you're going to change multiple sections like I did that's the easiest way. The best thing about doing it is that you can match colors to your photos.
