Journal Your Christmas 2016

Post by nchoney »

Is anyone working on a JYC album this year?

I had so much fun doing it last year. I'm already behind on putting things on pages, but I'll catch up now that I have an album and page protectors. I was going to try a 6x12 one like Shimelle is doing but couldn't find any to buy. That were affordable. But I found another 8x8 in my stash and some 2-up photo page protectors as well as 8x8 ones. So now I'm ready to get started.

So you're all set to go, Debbie! I'd love to see what Christmas on the Outer Banks is like. :P

Every year I think I might do a JYC album; as I was putting the window layout together this week I thought 'that's a story that could go in JYC'. But I keep gravitating towards layouts. However, I was blown away by what Wilna Furstenberg is doing with her Christmas mini-class in an album here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-e-0pCD5PnM. Don't know yet what I'll do with it, but I definitely bought the class - she has a store-wide sale with everything 25% off until Friday.

I agree Debbie. In fact if it weren't for those I'd probably never use my Silhouette, but she makes me want to do it - even though I have to be reminded how again every time I do.

I do a December Daily which actually begins with Thanksgiving and goes through New Year's Day. It's basically the same with a different name. The group I do it with calls it DD. I actually don't do everyday but the things I want to remember. I worked on finishing last years at the beach retreat.

As I sit here writing this and eating a piece of my lemon loaf I made yesterday, I realized I forgot to take a picture before it was cut. Guess I'll have to eat another piece to get a pic.

I've done this for a few years and really love looking back at the Christmas past. I put the books out for the family to enjoy. I've already picked the book to alter and have a box of papers, etc to use. I've yet to get started. Guess that will be my next project.

JYC doesn't have to be in pocket pages, they are too much trouble to me. I've treated the pages like each is a layout.
Wina's cut files are beautiful.

I'm watching the videos and dreaming of doing JYC. It's 12/7 and I might have decided to take photos to go with the prompts and then put it together after Christmas. This trip in the middle of the month has my whole routine out of order. No reason for it. Maybe I'm getting old.

That being said, I really like the format of her 6 x 12 album. I'm not sure I want little albums any more. And I thought about doing a week at a time per page. Maybe I'll decide by the time Christmas is over with - cause, you know, I didn't realize Christmas would be rolling around again so soon.

Someday, I hope to grow up and be as talented as Wilna. Her style is just perfect. Perfect.

I probably should do it this year as we will have a full house for the first time in many many years. Robin hasn't been home for 3 or 4 years. We might even get a tree and decorate and exchange gifts  :-o :? . I have no idea even what the date is today. Oh, up in the corner, Dec. 8.

Wow, this should be a Christmas to really remember with Robin being home. Fiancee also?

I've never done any specific holiday albums let alone very many LOs. But this holiday is going to be busy with Bob's 70th birthday on the 18th and then Christmas one week later. Should be interesting!

Now I must go see what Wilna is up too. I did one of her classes and loved it and the SVG files are indeed outstanding.

I'm finally starting to put my journal together. I've got my photos and embellishments all sorted and in order in the album. Now I'm putting some finishing touches on pages and getting some journaling done. Should be another fun scrapbook.
