Our office pumpkin for the company contest
Our office pumpkin for the company contest
I had to share.... my Network Admin, Jordie, came up with the idea... and then went on his annual hiking trip... LOL
So... I had to bring it to fruition and I must say Jack Skellington turned out pretty darned cool. Here's a link to the video

Fantastic, Debi! Did you paint the white stripes on his shirt?
Re: Our office pumpkin for the company contest
That's AWESOME! I wish our office had any sense of fun. Not that I'd have time to contribute to office decorations, but I would totally suggest this kind of idea.

I think you should definitely do that!nchoney wrote:on a whim, I just searched for "nightmare before Christmas scrapbook supplies" and OMG.... I may just have to buy some and do a layout about ol' Jack, here!! LOL
Years ago when I worked on the series 'DOC' I ran a couple of pumpkin carving contests. I had the PA's buy pumpkins out of the craft budget - not to worry, there was lots of Halloween candy, too! - and invited the entire cast, crew and all the regular extras to participate. There were prizes, donated by our various vendors and suppliers - even good things like Raptors and Maple Leafs tickets as well as bottles of booze, jackets, hats, etc. Voting was done by the entire company by donation to a UNICEF box; the pumpkin that collected the most money won. It's no surprise how creative film types can get and it was fun to see how competitive they were; lots of the pumpkins were department submissions, so then the crews donated a ton of money to their entry so they'd win. A couple of notable jack-o-lanterns: my PA Jenn, who is very artistic, carved a pumpkin in the likeness of Billy Ray Cyrus (she won that year), and I recall the AD department, who said they were too busy to carve a pumpkin, submitted an orange with a headset fashioned out of tin foil. We had pumpkins will elaborate lighting set ups (courtesy of the Electrics), one on a stand (courtesy of the Grips), one that spun on a turntable to music (Sound Department) and of course several all dolled up, courtesy of the Hair and Makeup departments. I really need to scrap those photos!

Definitely scrap those photos, Debi and Keitha!
I think I'm going to suggest this at work. Right now we need some light hearted fun to balance out the damage-control mode we've been in all week.
