My October 2017 Weekend SSS Card Challenge card #8!!

Post by paddlegal »

Knowing that the November SSS Kit is soon to arrive is spurring me on to complete October’s kit. October’s kit is elegant and a good one for more masculine cards if desired. I’ve got 5 cards done and three to go if I keep to the 4, 8.5 X 11 sheets of card stock. One sheet is too gorgeous to use as a card base so I haven’t cut into it yet. It’s a beautiful copper and I’ll use it on the next few cards. Meanwhile I’ve recruited several CS sheets that go well with this kit. I’ve added a text weight copper (kit ?) and a green from Haberdashery which strangely works with some of the patterned paper. One color on the patterned MME pad can go blue or green!

So here’s my first five one of which you may have seen already in my frame challenge. These photos unfortunately don’t do the metallic copper in the papers and the silver glitter embossing powder I used justice.

Beautiful, did the paper come with the swipes of blue and gold or did you add it? Very pretty.

Thanks! The rose gold and blue swipes are part of the paper! A truly elegant collection from My Mind’s Eye called “Blush”. So in the SSS kit, the stamp set is made up of sentiments and brush strokes of varying widths and lengths. The plaid background card I made from those brush stroke stamps. I then added glitter along the strokes with a Ranger embossing ink pen included in this set. I used the metallic blue embossing powder that came with the kit for the sentiments. It’s gorgeous too.

The kit that is coming for November is another winner. Can’t wait to get my hands on it.

Wow, even with the limitations of shine seen online, those really look gorgeous. In real life, they most be stunning. Might be time to look at these kits again for the Fall/Winter months when I might actually use them!

Beautiful cards, Farley! I was very tempted by those beautiful papers and stamps, but I still haven't used up the coffee one... added to it, actually! :tomato: I think the kit name was Ornamental, btw.

Thanks Marianne and Monica.

Yes I was thinking Ornamental too. It’s a textured copper. That kit was on my favorites list.

One more card before I quit for the night...nearly midnight which is typical of me. The feathers were created using a Darice embossing folder then cut out. This card stock is the gorgeous rose gold that comes with the kit. There was no way I was going to use it as a card base. I still have half of it to play with. I will add a sentiment when I’m ready to do something final with it. The background paper also has the rose gold dots.

There is one more card in the works but I’m bonked. Time for bed and my electric blanket...it’s finally cold here...at least by Sacramento standards.

These cards are all lovely but I especially loved the embossed feathers. Gorgeous.

I took a sneak peek at what you'll be showing us in November. Ah, that kit is great and I LOVE the stamp. Enjoy.

Thanks for the compliments.

I too favor the feather card. It’s definitely a more “me” kind of card. My other favorite is the “thinking of you” with the fussy cut flowers from one of the MME papers. This was a good exercise in deciding who I am making these cards for. I love these kits but tend to start out making “kit” cards. Then I realize I am bored with them and strik out in a direction that is more me using non-kit items with the kit. I’ve got another interesting one in the works...just not sure how I am going to finish it.

Jen this next kit is going to be breathtaking. I’ve ordered a whole 6x6 pad so I don’t have to decide how to use the half pad that comes in the kit, LOL. Plus the specialty papers included are gorgeous. I can’t wait to get my hands on it. So I must finish this kit this weekend.

#7. A birthday card for my friend Dan. Next month his wife will get the feathers card for her birthday.

The vertical strips were cut after embossing more of that lucious rose gold card stock. I must have more of that. Sentiment was cut from the CS Ornamental copper paper which I lined first with an adhesive backing. I hope the vellum sticks. I used a fine tipped applicator and glued only behind the sentiment so nothing shows. The navy and rose gold striped background paper from the kit’s MME “blush” pad.

I really like the Art Deco look of this.

Oh goodness they’re beautiful!
I bought the 6x6 pad from the Blush collection. That color combination makes me swoon.

Farley, these cards are absolutely gorgeous. I would hate to part with them, but your recipients are going to love them. I'm going to go look at these kits, but I don't send that many cards throughout the year so I don't know if it would be a good fit for me unless I could adapt them to scrapbook pages.
