2017 October Card Sketch - Frame It! - Sample #3

Post by paddlegal »

So this is my very lame attempt to do the sketch on my iPad with the Apple Pencil. But I think you'll get the idea.

So many great cards of late have had some kind of framing. Squares, ovals, ornate ones...the possibilities are endless and you don't even need a die for it. A punch will do the job or even a kraft knife. Either a frame or a window really sets off a focal point even if it's just a sentiment.

Make a Happy Fall card, Thanksgiving or a Halloween card or a birthday/anniversary card (any kind of card) using a window or a frame to highlight your main theme. I bet some of you may still have CS die cuts from the Frame kit. Anything goes...just put a window or a frame on it.

I'll post some examples soon but here is my first attempt to do a sketch with the Apple Pencil. Needs practice, I know.

On the face of it, this seems rather easy. But you know I can procrastinate until Halloween. Thanks for posting it and I'll do my best to participate.

I will most likely be working on this one soon but it will be a Christmas card. No surprise right.

A simple sample. Oxide inks for the tree using dauber to apply colors and a light spritz of water on the finished image. Frame die from MFT.

Great fall colors on that card - and impressive pen work on the computer too.
I look forward to taking on this sketch.

Great sample, Farley. Those oxide inks look splendid. I have not had the same gorgeous results so I haven't yet fallen in love. I will try, try again.

Sample #2: A very skinny, layered frame. Stamped in Oxides with layered paper from an Amy Tangerine 6x6 pad. Colors look better IRL.

Both cards are great. I'm going to want to come back to some of these card challenges in November when my weekends free up again. Both of the samples gave me some ideas that I want to try.

oh boy, more samples.
Yesterday I tried to work in the garage after dinner but had zero mojo.
It was just an off day all day. I hate those days.

So I read my Tom Petty biography book instead.
