August 2017 Card Sketch Challenge - Card Your Scraps

Post by paddlegal »

In other words take that huge pile of leftover scraps and make a card or two or twenty!

This came about after various discussions here about organizing and paper storage. I toss my scraps of all sizes into an open box thinking I'll go there first for paper...Ha! So here's the before pile, the organized pile (after ruthlessly tossing a lot) and finally what scraps I think I'll first make cards from.

So your challenge if you choose to accept is show us the group of scraps you'll work with and then the end results.

Back soon with yet to be made card samples.

Oh my, all my scraps are sorted by color and as I told Keitha, they are all resting comfortably in their assigned drawers by color. I hate to disturb them!
But I do have a lot of branding strips sitting here waiting for something to happen.

Too funny Marianne.

This is an interesting challenge, I do not really have a scrap stash.
I'll have to see what I come up with.

Got two cards made tonight and it was fun plowing through my now semi organized scraps.

Such great colors! Your scraps look more interesting than mine. Maybe I'm just sick of looking at my stack. Time to recycle, I think - after I make a few cards.

I love those cards!

I too have a big box that my scraps get thrown in. I did finally make a rule for myself that the scraps have to be at least one inch in one direction to be worth saving, and that's reduced how quickly the pile has grown, but it's still very large. I could probably make literally a hundred cards with that box of scraps. And, with all of this renewed talk of organizing, maybe I'll even figure out a new way to store them to get them more in front of my face where I'm likely to use them. :D

Having them sorted by color is the only way I can deal with them. It's a big help when you think you need a mat, card front or a journaling square or want to punch something as an embellie.

I used scraps from a 6 x 6 paper pad, so I knew the papers would work together. ;)

Yes Pat! Super card and very pretty papers.

My cards (that you thought looked a bit different for me...and you're right) also were made from papers from coordinating paper pad scraps.

Very nice, Pat! I wonder if any of my 6 x 6 pads have any scraps tucked in them.
