April 2017 Holiday Card Challenge-Let's Get Spotty!

Post by azemigh »

Since I got to spend the month of March rather spotty, that's our challenge for April. Make your holiday cards with SPOTS! 1 spot, 2 spots, big spots, little spots, any kind of spots you would like.

I have 3 examples ready, but some more in the works. Let your creativity flow and enjoy getting spotty this month!

Card 1: the holly berries are the spots, but the die has circular cuts as well

Card 2: inking through circle stencils

Card 3: brusho through a circle stencil and 1 large round diecut tag from a really vintage CS kit Old South.

Great idea of a challenge Rachelle, as you've demonstrated with your card samples. Again the Brusho one is my favourite - very cool through that stencil.

I've been playing with the TH mixed media die and tried dry embossing with it to see what kind of effect it has. I made a few more spotty holiday cards using the results.

The first card is a regular cut using the die and backing with patterned paper and added the tattered poinsettia and swirls. Spots are represented with the glass bead centers

The second card is the same die run through with a silicone pad and the special embossing pad for sizzix machines. I used polka dot for the card base for the spots.

Next is the same die, but I reversed the paper so the opposite side of the die would emboss, then I hit it with marcasite embossing powder. Kind of came out a little like wrought iron.

And the last one is the same die and then I inked the raised part.

2 more cards using the mixed media die.

The snowflake card uses the die embossed and then rose gold embossing powder. (Sorry about the glare) The snowflake stickers have the dots.

The snowman card uses blue polka dot paper with the die embossed and then winter wonderland embossing powder on the raised part.
