Deck of Art: 9 of Clubs - Fur Babies - AMENDED

Post by pbp908 »

Since this subject has been on our minds so much recently, I think we should dedicate one card to fur babies. This can be past, present, future, or a member of our extended family. They have no voice, yet they express so much and enrich our lives every minute they're with us.

Amended to add: Fur babies don't necessarily have to have fur. They can have feathers, fins, scales, shells (turtles!) or need a sweater in the winter because they have none of the above.

Here is my favorite wild furbaby-the wombat. Last year, when we read that Birdland in Bateman's Bay, NSW, has cuddle sessions with wombats, nothing could stop DD, her best friend and I from going there. So this is Penny, the orphaned baby wombat that they had there then.

Ohhh, I don't want to give Paula the wrong idea but we do have a wombat I could bring. This was also the place where we did the snake cuddle; I won't bring him

Well, I already put my first fur baby in the Pets category and I was thumbing through pics when I came across this one of my first Christmas. I think I was my parent's little fur baby that year judging by the outfit I'm in.

I would say you were definitely the furbaby of that year!

:hijack: Seeing the fabric roses reminds me of a child's dress I saw in a ritzy kids' shop window in Double Bay, Sydney. Robin is working in an equally pricey gift shop in that area, not a place we would normally hang out. Anyway, the little sundress had 3 or 4 rows of those roses sewn around the hem. They were small in proportion to the dress and it was so simple and elegant. No idea of the price, these are shops with no prices on items in the windows!

The little roses I used here are the Tim Holtz one's that you can dye with distress inks or stains and they come sewn onto a piece of organza ribbon. I cut them apart, but I'm sure you could sew them onto the hem of a dress.
