My definition of strength is my Grandfather. I remember him working dilegently on his house and yard in California. He said he had so much to do. What he was telling me was that he was very ill, and needed to finish his life, before he could admit he was sick. He crossed all of his t's and dotted all of his i's, so his family would be taken care of, then went to the doctor and passed away within 30 days. I will always be in awe of him
Probably too much information, but I needed to share

Here is my strength card. I chose a quote that I thought exemplified my idea of strength.

I used a paper towel I had painted, Avant Garde stencil and stamp from Serendipity Stamps. The most interesting thing I think is the quote. It is one of those vellum ones from those little booklets of themed quotes. I don't usually like them because the vellum stands out so much against other paper. I happened to have some mineral oil standing by to oil my cutting board so I rubbed it on both sides of the vellum. After it sat awhile, I wiped off the excess. It made the vellum more translucent. Then I used gel medium to glue it down. I like the way the vellum background disappeared. next time I will tear all the edges, I think that will look even better.

I used this photo of my Grandmama that I found recently. She was a woman of great strength. She passed away on Christmas Day 2008 from Alzheimer’s disease.

Hope - your card speaks volumes to me. My grandma was one of the strongest/gentlest people who have ever lived.
Did she know how strong she was? Was she just one of those women who did what needed to be done and never thought twice?
You've given me a lot to think about this morning...

I think our grandmothers were from a generation that did what they had to do without complaint simply because it HAD to be done. And thanks for giving me an idea for my card.

I don't think that she thought that she was a strong woman at all. She also put up with alot of crap!!!

Something to sit and reflect on!
