Kathryn's bag pattern

Post by katymjo »

You need two pieces of fabric, about 18 inches square. I chose a plain one for the lining and a patterned one for the outside. Choose one without a stripe or one-way design the first time you try it!
Place the fabrics right sides together and stitch round, leaving a gap along one side turn right side out and press.

This shows how to fold the piece and how to stitch it. The yellow side of the paper is the outside and the white is the lining. The lines you stitch are the side seams of the bag. Open the triangles and fold them back. It should be the same on both sides.

Fold over the top flaps and make two lines of stitching round the bag to put two lengths of ribbon through to make the draw-strings. Decorate with beads. Fasten each flap with a bead and ribbon loop.

What a great idea. I hope to find it again one of these days and give it a try.
