120 Colors Plus a Sharpener!

Post by paddlegal »

It's been years, nearly 60, since I owned a box of Crayola. Then it was 64 but today I discovered a box at Jo-Ann's of 120...at 30% off! What inspired me to look was Alisa Burke's blog today on coloring with crayons. Nothing earth shattering but inspiring all the same. Like heating your paper first or using baby oil.

I could smell them the second I saw the photo.
There's a box of 64 sitting on the dresser in the guest room...

I was wishing I had a white crayon the other day but I think I finally got rid of the ones I had for years and never used. So, why do we need them now, Farley?

The Voices told me.

And Alicia's fun video. I've just become a coloring junkie and I didn't have a single true crayon. Gelatos don't count.

:vader: Welcome to the Dark Side.... we have fresh boxes of Crayolas for all! ;) I never got rid of mine. I think at last count I have something like 10-12 boxes of Crayolas, ranging from boxes of 12 to the 120. And a shelf of coloring books... some from my childhood and some from the recent coloring craze. Nothing compares to opening that box of Crayolas and inhaling the lovely smell! And it's cheaper than therapy.....

Followed the link you posted, Farley. Had no idea about the baby oil! Reassuring to know I'm not the only one who promptly rearranges all the crayons in the box. I've been doing that since I was a kid. You could tell at a glance if it was my box or my sister's, based on whether it was jumbled colors or neatly sorted by color families. Yes, I've had OCD since a very young age about that.

Does anyone else remember seeing the Crayola 8-count boxes that were all one colour? I put a box of blues in my grandson's stocking a couple Christmases ago; although he's very artistic, at 16 I don't think he appreciated them. I thought they were very cool though, and really wanted to buy boxes in all the colour ranges for myself. I just popped over to crayola.com to see if they still had them - did you know you can make a CUSTOM box of crayons? You can choose 8, 64 or a full art case - and fill it with whatever colours you want! And even personalize the box. I so want one of those, LOL.

You all sound like you should be making a
pilgrimage to the Crayola Factory in PA.
We took my grandsons when they were in
elementary school, I think my daughter and
I had more fun than they did. They have all sorts
of crafty corners for vistors to sit and play.
AND they had these awesome paper mobiles
hanging from the ceiling that had been colored
with Crayolas, of course.
Made for terrific scrapbooking, LOL

I would love to do that, Elizabeth! But first I need to get to that side of the Mississippi again. ;)

Keitha, I have no idea what's you're talking about... *stashes away the tins holding small boxes of crayons*

Hmmm, if I'm counting those... nope, I really don't want to actually know how many boxes of Crayolas I own.
