Struggling with distress inks
Struggling with distress inks
Last night I got out my Tim Holtz distress inks and tried some blending. Not good at it at all. I watched a couple of YouTube videos too and it didn't seem to help. Any suggestions. Maybe its the tools? Or maybe it is the crafter?

Are you using the foam pad on the distresser tool? Search through Tim's website. He's the master of that technique. The most important thing is to keep it almost completely parallel with the surface - the more angled you hold it, the harsher the edge. You have to start the rubbing motion on your craft mat - almost like you're pulling the ink onto your paper. I hope that makes sense and is helpful.
This video is pretty good. Another tip is that it really does make a difference what type of paper you're using. These tags have some sort of finish on them that allows the ink to move better.
