Oh, so once you do all that folding on the Jeweled Flower, you ARE supposed to open it back up again. I thought that might be the case but it didn't say to open them back up so I thought it was some weird triangular thing that I was missing.

No problem! I might try another one and make it smaller this time.

If it's dreary where you live today and your muse is ignoring you, try some of these ribbon flowers.

Gros Grain ribbon flower
1. cut a length of wide gros grain ribbon (I cut 12 in here)
2. fold ribbon in half lengthwise and sew long loose side together with a running stitch
3. make snips into folded (not sewn) side of ribbon about every 1/4 to 1/2 in along the length of the ribbon
4. gather the sewn edge together by lightly pulling on the ends of the threads
5. begin to coil the ribbon into a flower and make small stitches on the back to hold in circular shape.
6. add center

I love how this frays as you work with it.

Wired ribbon flowers:

(larger one)
1. cut 12 from wide wired ribbon
2. using narrowest ribbon you have, make a running stitch along one edge
3. gather ribbon and form into loose flower
4. adjust and bend petals

(smaller one)
1. cut 12 from wide wired ribbon
2. using narrowest ribbon you have, make a running stitch down middle of wired ribbon
3. gather ribbon and tie ends of gathering ribbon tightly (this forms a rosette on its own)

I think the little rosettes would look adorable sewn to the straps of a child's sundress and attached to an elastic for a pony tail!

Large Wired Ribbon flower:
1. cut a length of wide wired ribbon that measures from your chest to the end of your arm...
2. pull the wire out of one side of the ribbon
3. gently expose the end of one end of the wire on the other side...here, I attach a bead and wrap wire around it so that it won't pull through the ribbon as I am pulling and gathering the wire on the other side of the ribbon...pulling both ends of the wire toward the center, pull until it is all tightly gathered in the center of the wire ends.
4. starting on one end of the gathered ribbon, start to coil (tightly for the center) and looser as you go around the center.
5. When I was done, I twisted the wire ends together tightly to hold flower in shape.
6. I did not have to stitch the center to hold, but you could do that depending on that you will use this flower for.
