Majestic Waves

Post by azemigh »

Hubby and I spent the day yesterday watching the huge waves at Cape Arago and Shore Acres Botanical Garden. It was absolutely spectacular and well worth the rainy drive out there. I used Aurora Borealis and By the Seashore Club Scrap digi kits for the layout.

There is something exhilarating about watching the power of the ocean, and you have captured it perfectly in your layout, Rachelle.
Aurora Borealis is a great kit for "splashy, wet" photos!

So pretty! I love everything about it!

Are the waves typically so high? I need to go there!

I have been to Cape Arago several times while camping in Oregon. This spot is just mind blowing gorgeous. Rachelle your LO really captured the beauty of this special spot. That whole area is amazing and I now want to go back right now, LOL.

The waves are exciting there but I believe right now it’s a seasonal thing and the Pacific has been particularly exciting. Surfers are loving it. There have been numerous warnings along the CA central coastal areas of high waves and rollers.

Thank you all! These huge waves do not happen all the time. We've been having a lot of storms roll through and the conditions were right for a couple of days of 25 foot swells. High tide was at 12:30pm and you need the high tide to coincide with the big swells to get the crashing as well. The terrain at Cape Arago is perfect for these crashers when we get the big swells out in the Pacific. It's about a 90 minute drive for us, but well worth it to go view them. This day was particularly nice because it wasn't just pouring the whole day. It's hard to see them when it's pouring and all the mist comes up. Only thing that would have been better is if the sun had peeked out and given us some sparkle. I think the show was over by Saturday and back to 8-10 foot swells.

Great layout - I like that little "taped" trio down the side of the right layout.
