Garden Club Book Covers

Post by azemigh »

My mom has been heavily involved in garden club over the years and she looked up the one here in Florence and wanted to join so I went with her last week. We had a lot of fun learning about all the uses for the weeds that grow in our gardens and one thing they are having next month is a contest to decorate your little handbook which has the yearly schedule in it. Well, this is right up my alley, so mom gave me hers and said "do something fun with it". I've been playing with them in my studio over the week end and came up with these. They both started with backgrounds that I had in my stash.

Want to bet half of the members will be asking you to do their covers and the other half will pretend that they don't like them while secretly wishing they could make them? ;)

Aren't they lovely?! I agree - you're going to be very busy!

We went to a huge craft fair in Issaquah this month. A vendor had a display of journals made with the covers of older children's books. I haven't seen any around here in a long time. They were selling like hotcakes. Now I'm on the look out for some older children's Christmas books to make Mia's Christmas journal. Not that I need more than one - just on the look out...you know what I mean!

Thanks everyone! It's nice to be back in my studio again.

Pam, I love to alter those little children's board books that have shapes. Haven't done one for a long time, but you're idea about the book covers brought that back to me.

I'd love to see one. If you get the chance to do another, be sure to post it.

Those are great - and I agree, the others may be asking for "decorating help" with theirs also!
