A January layout... and sketch

Post by Keitha »

One last Christmas layout from me before I get back to scrapping Route 66 photos. This street has been well documented in the local media the last few years, although this was the first year I saw it for myself. What started out as one homeowner shopping for a bit of Christmas decor has turned into a groundswell of community spirit, complete with a charitable cause. But backstory aside, it's just plain fun. This year there were approx. 70 of these 14' Santas along the street which is just a few blocks long.

Lots of challenges for January were already on the board by the 1st so I didn't worry about posting a layout sketch, although will share the one I used here in case anyone is interested - a new sketch from Scrapbook Generation via their FB page. I changed it up somewhat to accommodate my photos. Giving myself props for using old papers outta my stash including the snowflake embossed photo mats, and also finishing an ancient package of glitter rub-ons.

Oooh...aahhh...what a great layout! Those Santas are just too cute! Bonus points to you for using up so much of your stash.

This is a great sketch - will have to print some photos and give it a try.

Your photos are great. Lots of light and beautiful sky! Maybe the snow helped provide some light, too.
really cute layout with all the snowflakes and the swirls and little houses and trees on the paper.

Love this sketch and your interpretation of it. Wouldn't it be fun to ride through that neighborhood?? It appeals to the 7 year old in me!

What a fun topic to scrap and a delightful LO Keitha. Thanks for the sketch. Those multiple photo sketches are great. I can picture a pile of birds on this.

Definitely something worth scrapbooking.... I miss seeing decorations on houses.... not too many year-round residents out here and not many who wind up decorating outside... we do see some of it when we're up at Mike's mom's house, though....

AND.... great job on a 2-page spread with so many photos! I was listening to "The Scrap Gals" podcast on the way to work today and they were discussing the age-old topic of 1-page layouts with 1 photo vs multi-page layouts with multiple photos... I'm more of a multi-page&photo girl, too!!

Not sure how I missed this before, but I love it! And thanks for posting the sketch too. Since we're iced in this weekend, I figured I'd spend a couple of days doing some layouts, and I'm going to add this to my list of sketches I want to use.

Very cool decorations! We had an overbundance of those Santas this year too. That's a cool sketch I would like to borrow sometime.

Love the layout Pam - such a pretty drive!

I used that sketch today too! I used it for one of my Christmas layouts from this past year (posted in another thread). Thanks from me too!

Keitha, thanks for the sketch and the inspiration. Love your layout.

And, Pam, yours is lovely, too.

I've been working on my layout for days. In the final approach now.
