Fiskars Customer Service

Post by mpizzazz »

I just wrote them a big thank you for their customer service so had to tell you guys about it. I'm sure there must a Fiskars trimmer or 2 at your houses.

My big grey 12" wide trimmer that I bought about 12 years ago was cutting wobbly. It looked like I had a curvy blade in it. I emailed Fiskars on August 5 to ask if there was anything I could do about it.
I got the autoresponse saying my warranty question would be answered. What warranty question? The trimmer is so old I really didn't expect anything but a "Sorry, you need a new trimmer".

So a few weeks passed and the trimmer was sitting on a pile of stuff to go to the dump this week but then I got an email saying my parts were on their way so I saved the trimmer. Today I received a new orange carriage that rides along the rail of the guide. Plus they sent an extra nut and a blade.

It would have been nice to have some instructions on how to replace it, couldn't even find a youtube video but I figured out how to pop off the circles on the end, ease out the rail holder and slide the old carriage off the silver rail and install the new one. Ta Da!! A new trimmer!

So, I am very impressed with Fiskars.

Nice to hear good reports on customer service. So many times it's the other way around. Kudos to Fiskars.

That's good to know. I have that same cutter. I don't use it but my husband does all the time. He said last night it needed a new blade. Do you know where to purchase them?

You can get the blades at any big box craft store. If he doesn't use them too often, those stores would be fine. If he goes through the blades fairly fast then checking out the bulk places on amazon could be an option. I use them in my fabric cutter and then they go to the paper trimmer. You can also get a sharpener for them. Just google rotary cutting blades.

Thanks Marianne! He just told me so I hadn't even had time to look for them. He really likes that cutter.

That was my first craft cutter and I loved it. I used it on my lap all the time plus the grooves for scoring card stock. I replaced the cutting blades several times plus the the cutting strip once which really made the difference cutting paper also. For some reason I decided I needed the 12" Tonic cutter and eventually sold the Fiskars. At times I wish I'd kept it.

I've never seen that style before. I have the old, old cheap one - the one where the plastic carrier lets the blade wander where it will. It works better with patterned paper than with cardstock.
Fiskars has been around for forever, hasn't it? So glad their customer service is stellar!

I still have one of those little ones, too. I think it was the first trimmer I bought before 12 x 12" paper came along. You have to push it against the plastic ruler guide evenly. Wonder if they would replace that.
