Stamptember Challenge 7 - Stamp on Watercolored Background

Post by nchoney »

Stamp on watercolored background – Do a wash background on either cardstock or watercolor paper – with watercolors or distress inks - and then stamp your image over it. Use an archival ink so it doesn’t mix with the background.

Gelatos count as water colors, right?

Oh wow Pam! Great subtle colors and the texture is wonderful.

Hmmm, I never use my gelatos. I might start excavating for them.

There's an instructional video on Donna's blog. The piece made by the guest artist is much more involved than what I did.
The first layer is texture paste and a stencil. Then gesso everything. Then gelatos scribbled here and there. Next is the fun part - use your fingers dipped in gesso to blend the gelatos and let it dry. If your colors are too subtle, add more color. If they're too bright, add more gesso. I stamped my images, embossed the butterfly and added shading with glimmer mist and a paint brush. I flicked on some Color Shine and rubbed Distress Ink along the edges. After it all dried, I sprayed it with Workable Fixative. I thought it was done but after I took the photo, I lightly rubbed Distress Ink on the textured areas to enhance them.

Thanks for explaining. I've been moving a few pieces of textured paper around wondering what to do with them. This might be it.
