ETA: It was brown Archival I used, not black. Black was the original but too harsh. And if you're really curious, it was the Ground Espresso Archival that's one of the Timmy versions, that I bought a reinker and a custom blend ink pad for and made my own large version.

Magic? Something like 15-20 years ago, glossy paper was THE THING when it came to stamping and embossing. I bought a ream of it, which I still have like half of. When I was trying to figure out what to do for this swap I dug out my favorite Stampendous lace heart stamp, which is also at least 15 years old, and decide to do a background to stamp it on. Which led me to wondering how Distress Oxides would look on glossy paper, because my brain was thinking of the old techniques I did with that stamp. So I grabbed a few pieces of glossy, cut them down to 5 1/2 by 4 1/4, picked out the red and pink Oxides along with a complementary brown, and smooshed them on my craft mat. A bit of misting, dragging the glossy through it and drying between applications, and I had a background that was soft and almost chalky, but with a smidge of that glossy paper hinting here and there. The stamp platform and brown Archival ink were used with the stamp, and then I decided to highlight the roses and leaves using the darkest red Oxide and a green that went well. Just used an applicator for that. The finishing touch was chocolate liquid pearls. I was originally going to use the Nuvo one I bought, but I couldn't get it to dome nicely, so I'll be playing some more with that on another project. That's it. Trimmed a bit to fit on the card base and there you have it. Easy peasy!

I have Monica's and Farley's cards. Between the two of you, I'm going to break my no shopping vow and order some Oxides.

Happy Mail Today!

Received from both Pams, Debi amd Monica

Monica, I just read your creative process for
your card, Chocolate Liquid Pearls WOW
I thought they were stick on jewels and I was impressed
with your steady hand because of how even they went on,
NOW I'm even more impressed because all of those teeny tiny
dots all looked the same to me!
