May 2017 Card Sketch Challenge - Going in Circles

Post by paddlegal »

For some reason circles have always challenged me in card making and scrapping. But I recently saw a card design by Debby Hughes and decided I had to give circles a try again. So here's your challenge: create a circle either by stamping, stenciling or using patterned paper and make it the focal point somehow.

My first card and circle shows my use of patterned paper. I die cut Oxide Ink stamped flowers to layer on top of the circle background. The second card involved cutting my circle from an Oxide Ink colored background. I then stamped a feather pattern on it as well as stamped and die cut individual feathers from the same background piece.

I hope to get a few more of these circle ideas in my head down on paper to post here. I like how such a simple thing as a circle generated some creativity using old stamps.

Let's see what you do with a few circles!

Very pretty! My issue with circles is having to walk 2 feet to get my circle cutters out. Yes, that lazy.
On my list of things to accomplish next weekend!

Lovely cards. And this is a challenge I think I can meet.

P. S. Looks like you have a real romance going with Oxide inks.

Thanks everyone. Hope you all have fun with this.

Cheryl, that sentiment came in the set with the sunflowers from Taylored Made. All of the sentiments in that set are all lovely and similar script.

Those are fun cards... and the circle idea should certainly be do-able. LOVE the one with the feathers!!

The feather in the circle is single stamp from Magenta. The bottom one is part of a set of feathers from WPlus9 I got ages ago. There were a few dies for it also.

I have been missing my mojo for the past couple of weeks. I decided today that I just need to START something - maybe that will get things going again, LOL

This fits the CS sketch for the month and Farley's circle challenge. I feel like scrappinJen.... two birds with one stone!

ETA - I fixed the photo.

Here's my entry even though I made a page instead of a card. It's a double-posted.

Wow, wow, wow! Nancy your card is awesome. And those colors are gorgeous...I am particularly fond of them because those were the colors of our kitchen where I grew up. My mom was great a colors.

Pam, what a great interpretation of the challenge. Love the LO layering and the combo of browns, pinks and aqua is really pretty.

Thanks for playing Pam and Nancy!

I have another circle card in the works. Just waiting for some drying before I photograph it.
