December 2017 Scrapbook Challenge
December 2017 Scrapbook Challenge
I realize how busy everyone is this month but hopefully we can all squeeze out a few minutes to create a page.
This month, I want to see pages with photos that show signs of Christmas at your home (or hometown).
When I was a little girl, the Rike's Department Store building (downtown) decorated their display windows with animated puppets and from the top of the first floor (outside) up - Santa and his reindeer decorated the side of the building. In the 60's, the bus company added a Santa Bus. The bus was decorated for Christmas - with a chimney on top! Santa, himself rode the bus so that every child got to talk with him. It was a surprise every day to find out which route the bus was assigned to.
Now, the first signs I see in our hometown usually decor items & baking items at the grocery store!
This challenge might take you down memory lane, send you on a photo-taking mission, or remind you to get the rarely photographed decorations you love onto pages.
This layout SHOULD contain a fair bit of journaling as well.
Just read that Audrey Yeager is going to post her 12 days of holiday scrapbooking series again this year. First episode goes up (youtube) at 3 p.m. today. Just in case anyone (like me) could use a boost of inspiration.

Oh gosh that's pretty! Is that a stamp or is it the printed paper?

Re: December 2017 Scrapbook Challenge
Thanks. It's a stamp. My favorite from CS Watercolor Christmas. I used my TH stamp press and Distress inks (Mowed Lawn and Picked Raspberry) which I sprayed with water before stamping to get a softer watercolor result. A little bit of splatter and that's it.
Re: December 2017 Scrapbook Challenge
I've been wanting to do a page about this star that I can see from my house so this is the perfect challenge. I don't see it from this angle, but it is still beautiful. The journaling reads:
The star was built on the side of Sundance Mountain in 1935 by the citizens of Palmer Lake as a show of courage, determination and optimism during the height of the Great Depression.
It now has 92 40-watt LED bulbs and is the largest outdoor illuminated star in the world.
The star shines every night in December and on special occasions, such as Veterans Day, July 4th, Memorial Day, Labor Day and 9-11. It also shines in memory of heroes.

Jen, Mallory is a doll and love the stamping. Something that is so out of my comfort zone but you nailed it.
Sue, beautiful photo and page. Great journaling as well.

Not sure how I missed Jen's page here. What adorable photos!
Re: December 2017 Scrapbook Challenge
Sue, what a great way to record the star. You page is really cute.
I spent too much time today going from store to store looking for a star tree-topper for our little tree. Could have found 100 other things to do with that time.
Christmas tree lots used to be one of the earliest signs of Christmas here. Our tree shortage must be worse than I imagined. No tree lots around us this year.
