Autumn 2017 challenge #2

Post by pamcook »

This challenge has to do with color. Choose one of these palettes to work with. Bonus points if you use your inks or paints to create a background or embellishment to work with your layout.

Dang it. I just did one of them on my scarecrow page. These are lovely palettes, Pam. Will try to work one in.

Those are super color combinations.... whoohhhoooo... definitely a fun idea!!

Maybe I'll take a break from packing things away and pull something out and make a page or two.

Oh boy...I love them all. I can see making a few card backgrounds with those combos.

Gorgeous color combos! I really want to work with one or more of those. Definitely keeping this challenge in mind for my next trip to the scrap room (which is likely several days off, since we've already got parent/teacher conferences, football, and a marching competition in the next three days).

I hope to get an example up for you soon. We're officially in a state of emergency now which means I have no more time to be immobilized by the fear of this storm. I'm going to get my hair cut tonight (priorities, right?) but when I get home, I hope to put together at least 3 page kits using this color chart as the base. Then I'm going to take photos of all our rooms, closet & cabinet contents, and the outside. Insurance agents say we underestimate our belongings when reporting storm damage/loss.

When I use a color chart to start a page, I actually enjoy the "hunt". It's fun to sort through my supplies for what I need. I'm not sure why it feels different, but it does. 8-)

I totally get what you mean about the hunt. If I'm starting with particular photos in mind, I use a whole different approach than if I'm just looking for particular colors. I imagine if/when I do this challenge, I'm just going to start with some embellishments that fit the color scheme, settle on a sketch, and locate cooridnating paper. I'll find photos to use later. Surprisingly (to me), I often find that I like the results of dropping photos on a pre-made layout far better than when I take a photos-first approach.

This kind of fits - LOL
I was quickly scanning messages this weekend and one of Julie's layouts gave me the idea for this one.
This is one of the layouts I made at camp.

You really got a lot done at camp. And we haven't even seen the cards. I like this layout a lot. And it's perfect for Chris's day.

This kind of fits with the Country Apple palette. My youngest niece's birthday isn't until November, but when I saw this cute hippo in the Silhouette store, I knew I had to use it for her card.
