April 2016 Scrapbook Sketch Challenge

I found this sketch late at night this week while browsing who knows where. The original sketch was tracked to The Scrap Room at http://thescraproomblog.blogspot.com/20 ... lenge.html.
I have quite enjoyed poking around their site and I like a lot of the sketches and layouts I see there. You may see more in the future. Hope you like it and decide to play along.

And here is my offering based upon this sketch. I did my best to channel Pam Cook via Shimelle but I gotta say, I'm not comfortable with it. I don't think it fits me. I honestly have a hard time finding my photos on this layout. There's so much going on. But it is what it is, it's done and it's another one for the books. The paper is from a Recollections pad that I really like called Union Square. The chipboard embellishments are from Julie Nutting's Belle Vie collection. Perfect for this layout as well as another I made today. Photos were taken by Mallory in December on her fantastic vacation. If you can find them.

I do like it! Your photos do stand out but I have felt the same way with some of my layouts. Sometimes matting them (individually or as a group) helps but usually I'm just being hyper critical (I know - shocking, right?)
Great colors, great embellishments and the sketch looks like fun. On my to do list for tomorrow night!

Thanks, Pam. I like the embellies. I think I just made my photos too small. I like the sketch so maybe I'll run at it again with 3x3s on it.

Nice sketch and I agree your layout is lovely Jen. I was also going to say that you could add a mat around your photos or ink the edges of them if you want them to stand out more - but I think it's fine without it.
