My Weekend to Play
My Weekend to Play
The house is clean, so the only thing I'm going to worry about this weekend is the laundry. Ergo I'm playing.
I was a little aggravated because I wanted to use alcohol inks on the leaf, but had no glossy cardstock to cover it with. So - easy thing to do when you don't have glossy - seal your paper. I used a metallic acrylic paint to cover the chipboard, which effectively gives it a sealed glossy surface. Used the TH clock mask and one of the CS Time & Space stamps and Distress Stickles for the leaf veins. I thought it needed something else, so I slit the tag on each end of the clock and threaded the ribbon through.
Now on to play with another mask!

Pretty! Love the stickles, Holly.
Pam, it's a great day to play -- far too cold to be out and about.

Re: My Weekend to Play
Pam I don't understand the masking bit that well. did you just lay the clock mask over and then ink etc? If so, then did you just cut the ribbon off where it meets the clock or is the clock on a separate bit of paper. BTW, I love it and love the ribbons too
Re: My Weekend to Play
First you create your background - I blotted several ink pads on waxed paper, spritzed with water and then dredged the tag through. After it dried, I put the mask in position and gently (don't want to tear the mask) applied the darker ink. Removed the mask and there was the image. The ribbon was genius - I slit the tag under and above the masked image right on the edge of the image and then threaded the ribbon from the back of the tag, through the bottom slit, back up through the top slit and then over the top. That way I had color without hiding the image.
The video/tutorial is on Tim Holtz' blog. I just pretty much followed his directions and it came out great. I'm just not as good at the initial inking as he is, but then nobody is.
