Re: Happy Birthday
Thanks everyone! It's been a busy weekend, very little of which has anything to do with my birthday. Friday night I spent working a concession stand at a concert (band boosters staff the stand at the venue and get a portion of the profits). Then we had our normal Saturday morning start with Jake's karate and my zumba class at the Y, and then we spent the rest of the day getting ready for the guard and drumlins's first competition. We hauled the guard equipment with our own trailer, because the drumline travels separately and takes up every square inch of both of the band trailers (much to the consternation of several of the guard moms - they think the guard deserves to have a trailer allocated to them, but in reality, all of their stuff would easily fit in a minivan).
Anyway, since we were hauling an equipment trailer, we were in for the entire day. The guard didn't do very well (6th place out of 7 entries), but I think their show has the potential to be gorgeous. Of course, I'm a fan no matter how they score. For any who are so inclined, here's a video one of the dads took yesterday. https://youtu.be/iajqKBzUK78
So far, the best part of my birthday has been getting to sleep in this morning. Though Rob and Jake had to get up early to go to a rescheduled Cub Scout meeting, so there was a bit of noise for a while, but at least I got to stay in bed. I finally got up and got to the grocery store, which totally could have waited until tomorrow, but Nicole was going to make me a chocolate cheesecake, and we didn't have all of the ingredients. Now the day is basically gone, and I think I might make a layout or two and call it a day.
