New Card Kit - Old Die Sets

Post by paddlegal »

After a 2 1/2 year card kit abstinence I caved recently and rejoined just one club...SSS Card Kit. There've been several this year that I bought and realized I might as well get a discount for as long as I decide to stick with it.

This is the August card kit and it's a bit of a challenge. Very simple and contemporary stamp designs but some nice sentiments on love, friendships and thanks. So I dove in tonight and got four cards made. I'm determined to make my goal of ten by end of this weekend and always attack these kits ASAP.

I used two different Blueprint die sets from MFT that I haven't used in ages.

Very cool. And they do have a modern look. Good on you for diving right in.

They are all nice but the first thank you card is my most favorite!

I love the colors and designs, Farley. I was impressed with their kits when I saw Judy making them at reCreate.

Thanks everyone for your kind comments.

For the remaining 6 card bases, I'll try to keep the look of this kit but will now add some of my older, more usable sentiments. I wanted to go at it like VickiP, using only what is in the kit but that Just makes my head hurt. Some of the layers on the above cards are solid card stock from my stash that seemed to go well with the card bases and color theme. But now I'm going to expand it a bit with other possible colors. I do like the contemporary look. It's a nice sophisticated change from the more often cute look of the kits.

I want to note that the WOW glitter embossing powder, that came in the kit, is GORGEOUS and sorry it doesn't show up in the photos very well. It isn't solid silver...it has some iridescence to it as well.

I'm very pleased with this kit. Looking forward to the September kit to arrive.

Great cards, Farley! I've waffled back and forth with getting their card kit, but I never seem to like 2 months in a row. And thinking about it.... it's been 2 years since I ditched my last club subscription and the room doesn't look any less stuffed with supplies... :tomato: That more contemporary look is really nice though.

You did a great job! I do like the colors a lot. I wouldn't choose them, so for me, kits are great because I end up trying new colors and patterns. Looking forward to seeing what you do next with it.

Terrific cards, and that does look like it's a good kit this month!
Fun when a kit can get your mojo running.

I'm a fan of all of those cards. I've contemplated over the last week joining another club, but thankfully I've managed to talk myself out of it just as quickly. :D SSS is one of the kits I've been looking at, but I need to get some of my existing stock used before I go adding new stuff each month.

I made three more this evening using the base cards, patterned paper and doodads from the kit as much as possible. But added stamps from my stash and dies. The "hello" and "celebrate" are my favorites. The green card not so much. I was going for the clustered look. I did use wink-of-Stella and silver embossing powder which helps some.

They are all good! Did you follow their samples or just use the products to do your own thing?

Thanks Marianne

All of these cards are my own nutty ideas. There were some example photos that come with the kit and of course some VickiP videos. But I like to wing it. There are two yellow and one green card bases yet to use. Not crazy about that green and less so of the yellow. So I've left the hardest challenge for last. Something to work on tonight. I'm thinking of hacking those up for mattes and die cuts and use my own card stock for bases. Grey seems the best color for that job.
