Distress Oxides in the House!

Post by nancine »

I played a bit last night, oh boy these are really fun. I need more practice, but this was a fun start.
I made one card, LOL and most of the background is hidden but I needed a "Spring themed" card for a swap and I loved the colors.

Resistance is futile.

Okay, okay. I'm giving in. After this trip, I'm just going to have to buy some.

Nancy, they're just beautiful!

Hard to pick a favorite, but the CrackedPistacio is delicious! I really like the Fossilized Amber, which is a color I don't have in the original distress inks. The purple is great as is the marmalade & Peeled Paont which is a favorite from the originals too. The Worn Lipstick turns into a really nice pink, so it anxious to get the Fired Brick for a red. And who could not love Faded Jeans?

I forget which brown I have but there are two in the collection and I think I'm okay with just having the one. So I have 3 more I "need"

Seven ink pads were awaiting me in my mailbox when I got home this afternoon! Yippeeee! Nancy, I too only got the Vintage Photo "brown". The other one was OOS so no big deal.

Can't wait to play sometime this weekend...Charley's birthday is tomorrow so playtime will have to wait a bit.

Here's some more distress oxide play - somehow I totally forgot my nephews birthday. I kept thinking there was something, but it didn't come to me in time  I've been wanting to use this bird and deflated balloon for a card like this for awhile!

I made the background with distress inks on the craft sheet, spritzing and dipping and repeating. Then I used the inks like watercolors for the bird, balloon and hat.

Great card! Have you tried blending the colors before using them as watercolors? I can't imagine they wouldn't blend well but I still wonder...
